Lisa L. Colón, 46 years old, passed away on Friday, March 27th, surrounded by her family, at their home in Indianapolis. After her valiant fight with colon cancer in 2010, Lisa’s battle resumed in June 2014 with the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. During her 9 month struggle, Lisa never gave up; she never complained and always maintained a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future- even throughout countless chemotherapy treatments.
Lisa was born in Cincinnati Ohio, where she graduated from Mt. Healthy high school. She moved to Daytona Beach Florida, as a young woman, where she met the love of her life, Carlos. After marrying Carlos she threw her energies into raising their children. Lisa later went on to become a digital photographer, and spent much of her time capturing memories of her family’s life, from behind the lens.
Lisa and Carlos moved to Indianapolis in 2011, where Lisa, filled with compassion and interest in others, made friends quite easily. She was an active parent for her daughter Zariel’s cheer leading, and became very close with many of the parents, who would later lend their support in her final months.
Lisa is preceded in death by her parents Donna and Douglas Caudill. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Carlos Colón, daughters Whitney and Zariel, and sons Carlos and Robert. Lisa will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, strong sense of humor and her ability to make anyone feel like family. Lisa’s biggest accomplishment in life was raising and caring for her family, and she will truly be missed.
